How to make peanut butter

Many commercial nut butters have added palm oil, or E numbers, or have been homogenised to stop the oil rising to the top. Eww to all those additives and processes. Making your own PB could not be easier and is quite a lot cheaper than buying a designer nut butter. You can use almonds, cashews or other nuts if you prefer.

Ingredients
  • 500g of roasted peanuts
  • 1 teaspoon of sea salt, or not, but there’s nowt wrong with a bit of salt
Instructions
Place the peanuts and salt (if using) in a food processer and blend.

They will go through a few stages, the last one being a big ball! But hang on in there and after about three minutes you will get a lovely PB paste. To make a crunchy version, separately blend a teacup of nuts til they are chopped into small chunks, then add them to your blend.

Jar it up and eat it.
